I have loved dolls, history, and the Victorian Era since I was little and can credit my grandmother for that. As a young girl she gave me a Godey’s Fashion print for August 1870 from my great, great Aunt Flossie. I was captivated by the dresses and became hooked. I just love to research everything and anything about the Victorian Era. I also love to design Victorian dolls. I hope you enjoy my Victorian Dolls, Victorian Traditions,The Victorian Era, and Me blog.

Augusta Lilac - So Pretty In Lilac! - Victorian Lady Doll

“Augusta Lilac”is a 13” Victorian faceless lady doll who is wearing an 1850 Ball Gown.

Augusta Lilac, Augusta Black, and Augusta Blue had been friends since they were babies and were so excited they could barely control themselves. You see, this was their year. Finally, they were debutantes and about to attend their debutante ball. They'd been dreaming of this for years and talking about the dress they wanted to wear.

The three best friends were very much alike in their taste in clothing and usually bought the same clothes - albeit in different colors. All three wanted a beautiful dress with long train. Well, maybe not so long that they couldn't dance, but long enough. They wanted lace and decorations and floral accents in their hair. And, most of all, as best friends they wanted their dresses to be alike, but not so alike that everyone would be able to guess. That was their private secret. But, different enough to reflect their own personalities.

Augusta Lilac was the quietest belle of the group and a little on the shy side. She didn't like too much attention drawn to herself so she avoided bright splashy colors. She much preferred a beautiful lilac pastel color so she decided to choose a two layered lilac and lace covered dress.

"Augusta Lilac" is a 13" free-standing Victorian doll who wants to be the belle of the ball. She is wearing an 1850 Ball Gown. She has very fancy 2-layer satin & lace covered and lace trimmed dress with long puffed, gathered & ruffled sleeves and lace collar with silk floral accent. She has a fancy 2-layer satin & lace covered and lace trimmed lined train. She has a lace trimmed sash wrapped around her waist with silk floral accent in the center back of her dress. Her satin shawl is lined and lace trimmed. Her slip is lace trimmed. Her long curly brown hair is fastened on the top of her head in a bun and accented with silk floral. Her arms are wire-shaped and covered and she has pearl accents. She also has a painted wood head and covered round wood base. Her inner body is made from a dowel covered with fabric and eyelet lace.
